In October 2022 I won the best Astrotourism WA Photo of the Year in the Astrofest Astrophotography Competition. The winning photo (shown below) was taken up in Karijini, WA. I was also delighted to have two of my astrophotos displayed in the South Australian Museum as a finalist in the Australian Geographic Nature Photographer of the Year. The panorama of the Milky Way across the Pinnacles (Nambung National Park was shot back in September 2021.

In March 2021 I won both the Astrotourism WA and Best Astro Photo of the Year in the Astrofest Astrophotography Competition. The winning photo (shown below) captures the core of the Milky Way rising above the sand dunes near Cervantes, Western Australia. The distinctive tracks in the foreground were made by one of the local Echidnas.

In February 2021 I was delighted to learn that one of my portfolios had been awarded 5th place in the Nokia 2020 Photographer of the Year Travel section. The four images below were shot in March 2020 at the Holi Festival in Vrindavan, India. Shooting inside the temple was one of the most challenging environments that I have photographed in. The air is full of coloured dye and high powered water pistols are used to soak the crowds during the ceremony. The photo below, which was shot by Andrew Studer, gives you some idea of the environment (that is me, bottom-centre). We shot Holi for three days and it was definitely the highlight of a fabulous trip to India.

In September 2020 we made a short trip to the Stirling Range National Park to see if the Peacock spider, Maratus sarahae had survived the devastating fires that burnt through the park in January 2020. My photos and the news that it had indeed survived were featured by the ABC News. The link to their article is below:
